Joseph Kirby

I am Joseph Kirby. I Love my family and watching Redskins football.

  • One of my favorite memories of Joe, Jr…

One of my favorite memories of Joe, Jr. (don’t call him Little Joe, for heaven’s sake!) is one time  long ago.

We were swimming in the river. Not deep, mind you, because it was just me, my wife and Little Joe (hehe). Sorry about that, son. We were fairly close to tbe shore. We stayed out of the deep water because non of us were strong swimmers, especially Joe, Jr.

So we were really just wading, not even in water over our heads, holding onto Joe since he didn’t really swim yet.

Well, along comes a snake out in the deeper water. We did not know whether it was a snake that we should be afraid of or not. So we got out of the water, just in case.

The funny part, at least to me (my wife did not laugh much about this at the time) was Joe’s reaction. He did not understand why we were afraid of an extra long penis (he called it a weenie) swimming in the river. I howled and my wife just gave me that “don’t encourage that behavior” look.

Now my wife thinks this episode is hilarious also, but not at that time.

  • I’m Joseph

    I am Joseph Kirby.

Things have sure changed a lot since I was a boy. I was born in 1921, can’t tell you the month or year since nowadays somebody may steal my identity with that.

I was a boy during what is called the great depression. Things were tough for most people during that period. Sometimes it gets difficult to think back to those days, but I will do my best.

I have seen a lot during my lifetime. Keep reading and maybe you will get a pearl or two from my life experiences.

I am mostly writing so that my kids, grandkids and great-grandkids (no great-greats yet!) will have more than just what is in their minds to remember me by.

I live in Virginia and I love my Redskins. Have loved them for a long time, loved them when they were winning and loved them when they were losing. I will love them from up in heaven after I leave this world, too. Keep playing, boys.

As much as I love the Redskins, my family matters most to me, even my son-in-law who has pulled for the Cowboys for many years. He should be glad my daughter never liked football or there would have been some real fights in that house.

Well, time for a short nap, then supper.

I will come back soon as I can.
